Core Processing & Preparation

Processing Table

The Processing Table is one of the best on-site solution to process your core sections. Made of steel and removable, its heavy weight guarantee a optimum steadying for your core 1m/3ft geological samples. Perfect for horizontal process like foam stabilization or to take top face picture.The capacity is 13 meter of 1 meter section (all diameter).

Draining Table

The Drainage Table is recommended for a stabilization of core using Epoxy Resin. Made of steel and removable, its heavy weight guarantee a optimum steadying for your core 1m/3ft geological samples. Cores section are positioned in vertical position in order to drain the mud prior insert the Resin.

Inner Tube Support

The inner tube support is made in substitute of the cradle once the  full length core positioned in the processing area. Robust and easy to handle it is an economic solution and securely positioned (1 support every 1,20m/ 4ft) it avoid bending of the core and suffer of mechanical damage.

Clips & Caps

We designed special rubber caps to fit any of your inner tubes. The end caps are colour-coded in black and red for top-to-bottom visual identification and to prevent any mixing during the various handling stages at the well site or in the laboratory. The caps are also moulded with a special insert to prevent the core from moving longitudinally and to allow any stabilization product, such as foam, to enter the annulus when injected.

Stick Wax Lubricant

The stick wax lubricant is a stick to lubricate directly on the teeth of blade when the core is cut in 1m/3ft section. Excellent lubricant when sawing aluminum inner tube.

Stabilization & Preservation

Foam Kit Injection

During the core processing operation, the technician can stabilize around 30 meters / 95 feet of core per set of foam on average (Depending on annulus size & the technician’s experience in controlling foam expansion and its progress inside the tube). This product offers maximum efficiency when operated at a temperature of 24°C / 75°F.

Teflon (PTFE) material is the best solution to use in order to stabilize a fractured formation. The PTFE is a key engineering plastic, highly specific due to its resistance to extremely high temperatures, its ability to withstand strong chemicals and acids and, famously, because of its exceptional lack of friction, which makes it a slippery plastic. The GeoShim is inserted into the annulus to fix the piece of rock and fractures.

GeoBath / Paraffin Wax

The Geobath wax melter series (Large / Medium) have been designed for melting waxes used during core preservation operations. It can heat waxes at a range of temperatures from 50°C to 200°C (122°F to 392°F) in order to suit all ranges of waxes available in the coring industry.

GeoBag Protector

The ideal solution to protect your geological samples from external chemical elements. Vacuumed, heat-sealed or taped, it is easy to handle and can be used for well-site, laboratory or storage purposes. The Geobag Protector is considered to be a reliable preservation technique but needs the right accessories to maximise its utilization.

Fluid Pipe

The soil pipe is an appropriate solution to immerse rock sample in fluid. Some SCAL program require this type of preservation and the pipe is designed to guarantee a safe handling particularly through  the valve that insure a correct degassing. The pipe can be designed for and horizontal or vertical transportation.

Plugging & Cutting

The plugging table is made in stainless steel and removable, its heavy weight guarantee a optimum stabilization and absorb all the vibrations. The basin is resistant at all type of fluid and equipped with Plexiglas plate to minimize the splash. Also an stainless steel  table is fixed to use as a working desk. The Plugging Table is equipped by different plug for the pump, drill and general power and also with emergency button to stop the plugging unit at any time.

The pneumatic plugging unit has been designed for processing in hazardous areas and It suits with offshore standard air supply. The machine comes with an  external swivel and the rotation speed can be manually controlled. The mounting base is adapted to our Plugging Table. The pneumatic plugging motor compulsory works with a standard 100psi rig supply.

The Top Face Plugging is made in steel and stainlees steel or galvanized (basin), its heavy weight guarantees a optimum stabilization and absorbs all the vibrations. The basin is resistant to at all types of fluid and equipped with flexible PVC plate to minimize the splash. Also an area is available on the table to put the tools. The Top Face Plugging is equipped with a pump, drill and general power and also with an emergency button to stop the plugging unit at any time.

The Inner Drill Bench is designed in order to remove the inner tube (aluminiun, fiber glass) at the plugging point. It offers the advantages that the rock sample is held on the bench, and the plugging machine is moved along the sample by means of a linear module provided with a hand wheel. This mobility allows one take a plug wherever necessary in all the core samples.

The anti-Stuck drill bit model has been developed to protect the plug samples against mechanical damage due to an aggressive action caused when the sample remains blocked inside the drill bit. Faced with a technical problem which until today was a quite a dilemma, Geofactory innovates with a solution which maintains the integrity of the plug sample. The Kit DAF™ anti-Stuck is used as a normal drill bit but it saves time, does not damage the equipment and leaves the rock sample undisturbed.

The Plunge Cutter is required to precisely control the penetration of the plunger into the soft and unconsolidated formation. Built with a hydraulic system, Geofactory offers an innovative model that offers the advantage of extracting horizontal and vertical plug samples. The main frame is orientable on a range of 90°and the worktable is equipped with a core support adjustable on axis X,Y that holds core up to 3ft/ 1m and 6 ¾ in diameter. Joined, the auxiliary mobile worktable has enough surfaces to organize the handling operation using a Digital balance, Heat gun and the consumables necessary for a perfect preparation of the sample.

The Portable Trimming Unit is a tool necessary when a plugging operation is required after a coring operation. The quality of the blade enables an excellent precision of the cut at the extremity of the samples. It has all of the protections to guarantee safe handling and a recirculating coolant system is available if needed.  In addition, Geofactory can provide viton tubing to protect the plugs of soft formation.

The Dual-Axis is a type of saw essential in the field of core preparation in the laboratory. In fact, this tool is designed to receive core samples 4” in diameter and 50 cm long and using a rotating support that allows one to cut rock sample from an axis of 0° to 90° (slabbing & trimming). It offers the additional advantage that the core sample is moved to the diamond blade and cooled with a steerable hydraulic setup.

The Geofactory slabbing saw is perfectly suited for both laboratory and harsh wellsite environments. The device can cut cores up to 152mm/ 6” in diameter and 110mm long. The cutting operation provides a greater flexibility as the core sample is moved towards the stationary diamond blade and the latter is cooled with a steerable hydraulic setup. This system warrants an excellent cutting precision which is essential; particularly when biscuit slices are processed. The most innovative feature of this instrument is the blade position adjustment system which regulates the blade height above the inner tube (Aluminium, Fiberglass).
